Strawberry, Apple, heart Pie

In honor of national day of Pi, we decided to make a pie. This was another one of those days where I had to use whatever we had in the fridge so strawberry and apple it was. This Pi was not only super cute but taste absolutely divine. My hubby “whom isn’t a pie or PI person πŸ˜‰ Absolutely LOVED it. You have got to give this recipe a try. Ingredients 3cups of strawberries (cut into chunks) 1 large Gala apple 2 pie crust ( I made my own) 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup water 3 tablespoon cornstarch 1 egg yolk Sanding sugar – national day of pi  (3 of 10) In a bowl, coat the cut strawberries with sugar. In a medium saucepan, bring the water, cornstarch, and strawberries to a boil over medium heat (about 10 minutes).

In a medium saucepan, bring the water, cornstarch, and strawberries to a boil over medium heat (about 10 minutes). national day of pi  (6 of 10)national day of pi  (7 of 10) national day of pi  (9 of 10)Β Β Meanwhile, cut out hearts from the pie crusts using a heart shaped cookie cutter. – Then peel and slice your apple. Place apples into pie shell. national day of pi  (8 of 10) Let the strawberry filling cool and then pour into the pie shell. – Brush one side of the hearts with the egg wash and firmly place them on the crust. – This is the first row. Continue to place the hearts by layering them in between the gaps. – national day of pi  (10 of 10) This is the first row. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes then reduce the oven to 375 degrees and bake for another 20 – 25 minutes until the filling bubbles. – The Crust should be golden brown.
